Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis recently shared details about their upcoming sequel, Freakier Friday, at Disney’s D23 event in Anaheim, California. The actresses talked about their bond and characters in the movie, revealing their excitement to be part of the project.
Freakier Friday is the highly-anticipated follow-up to the 2003 hit film Freaky Friday. Lohan and Curtis reprise their roles as Anna Coleman and Tess Coleman, a mother-daughter duo who switch bodies magically. The sequel promises more depth to their beloved characters after more than twenty years since the original film.
The cast will also include returning members like Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, and Christina Vidal Mitchell, along with newcomers Manny Jacinto and Julia Butters. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, the movie is set to hit theaters in 2025.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine at the D23 event, Lohan and Curtis reflected on their close friendship that developed after filming the first movie together. Curtis acknowledged Lohan’s growth since their first collaboration, emphasizing the impact of Freaky Friday on both their careers.
During the event, Lohan expressed a desire to trade bodies with her one-year-old son, Luai Shammas, for a day to see the world through his innocent eyes. Curtis, on the other hand, mentioned WNBA star Caitlin Clark as someone she would like to exchange bodies with to experience playing basketball.
As the release of Freakier Friday approaches, it becomes clear that the bond between Lohan and Curtis has only deepened over time, turning the sequel into a celebration of their unbreakable friendship and the love between mothers and daughters.
