Liam Payne, Ex-One Direction Bandmate, Passes Away at Age 31
Directioners are mourning the loss of Liam Payne.
The former member of One Direction tragically passed away after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as confirmed by local authorities from El Sistema de Atención Médica de Emergencias (SAME) to Telemundo on Oct. 16. He was 31.
In the afternoon, police responded to a 911 call reporting an aggressive individual who may have been under the influence of substances, according to SAME. The involvement of drugs or alcohol was not officially confirmed by the police.
Shortly before the tragic news emerged, Payne had shared a snapshot on Snapchat featuring himself and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in swimwear, posing happily for a mirror selfie.
Rising to stardom in 2010 alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik as part of One Direction on The X Factor, Payne experienced immense success with their debut single “What Makes You Beautiful” from the album Up All Night in 2011.
Despite achieving fame and producing hit songs like “Story of My Life” and “Night Changes” with 1D, Payne openly discussed the challenges of navigating fame at a young age.
