Fans of the NBA got a glimpse of the first father-son teammates in the franchise’s history during the Los Angeles Lakers media day on September 30. LeBron, 39, and his 19-year-old son, Bronny—whose actual name is LeBron James Jr.—were both dressed in their yellow home jerseys for photos.
LeBron couldn’t contain his excitement about the moment.
“Pure joy, man,” the basketball icon expressed when questioned about his feelings on playing with his eldest son, as shown on social media. “I can’t find the right words. I can only talk about how proud I am of him. I’m at a loss for words.”
He added, “I’m extremely proud of him for reaching this point. He’s grown into a man, and he’s prepared to take on the challenge.”
Questions were swirling about what Bronny will call his father on the court, ruling out “Dad” as an option.
