Kumar Sanu Seeks Court Protection for Personality Rights, Similar to Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor; Raises Concerns about AI
Artificial Intelligence is prevalent across the internet, with digitalized versions of well-known personalities engaging in activities they typically wouldn’t do, posing a threat to their identity. Actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff have protected their personality rights, and now singer Kumar Sanu is set to do the same by approaching the court soon.
Kumar Sanu to legally protect his personality
The singer, known for his unique voice texture that is difficult to mimic, is concerned about potential misuse with the rise of AI. Sanu, in an interview with HT City, shared his plans to take legal action after completing his USA concerts.
He expressed his belief that AI has taken over technology today, stating, “If any singer’s duplicate is created, I don’t think that would be appropriate. One must protect themselves using such measures. AI is dangerous,” quoted Kumar Sanu.

Kumar Sanu says composers should make the original singer sing again in remakes if possible
While the trend of remakes continues to thrive, Kumar Sanu questions why original singers aren’t given the opportunity to re-record their songs if they are still capable. He advocates against the use of AI in covers and emphasizes the importance of preserving the authenticity of music.
Sanu criticizes producers and directors for neglecting the original singers and opting for substandard lyrics in remakes. He highlights the deterioration of the music industry’s standards and challenges the practice of overlooking talented vocalists capable of re-singing their own songs.
In September 2023, the Delhi High Court granted an injunction restraining entities from using Anil Kapoor’s name or likeness without permission. A similar order was issued in favor of Amitabh Bachchan in November 2022.
