Husband of Krystal Anderson Expresses Ongoing Concerns About Her Death
Krystal Anderson‘s family continues to seek closure.
This includes her husband Clayton Anderson, who is reflecting on the state of healthcare for women, particularly Black women, in the United States following Krystal’s passing on March 20 due to sepsis after the stillbirth of their daughter, Charlotte. Their first child, James, also passed away in a stillbirth in 2022.
“One of the concerns I have with the overall system,” Clayton told Good Morning America in an interview published on April 11, “is that Krystal is 40, Black, and we had experienced a loss previously. However, they said we couldn’t begin with maternal fetal medicine or high-risk maternity doctors until week 14.”
He continued, “Every pregnancy is high risk, especially for women of color or older women, and they should be treated as such from the beginning.”
Clayton also voiced frustration over the long intervals between Krystal’s appointments.
“Requiring someone who has experienced a loss to wait four weeks between visits with their healthcare providers,” he explained, “is the same approach used for a healthy 23-year-old. It shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all approach.”
