“Girl Dad” Statue Unveiled in Honor of Kobe Bryant and Daughter Gianna
Kobe Bryant and Gianna “Gigi” Bryant‘s father-daughter bond has been immortalized at the home of the Los Angeles Lakers.
A bronze statue of the late NBA legend and his 13-year-old daughter was recently installed outside Crypto.com Arena. This sculpture, the second honoring Kobe at the venue this year, symbolizes Kobe and Gianna’s remarkable basketball legacy and the special relationship Kobe had with all four of his daughters, as stated by the NBA on August 2.
“Kobe exemplified what it means to be a Girl Dad,” Vanessa shared with a small gathering of loved ones during the unveiling, as reported by the basketball league, “and Gigi was truly a Daddy’s girl.”
Tragically, both Kobe, aged 41, and Gianna were among nine individuals who lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif. Vanessa, along with their daughters Natalia (21), Bianka (7), and Capri (5), carry on their legacy.
The sculpture, designed by Karon Davis and crafted by the artists of Rotblatt Amrany Studio, showcases Kobe with his arm around Gianna and angel wings embracing them, surrounded by purple and yellow flowers representing the Lakers’ team colors.
