Kim Porter‘s father is speaking out after a 2016 video of Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura was recently brought to light.
“I was thoroughly disgusted by the video, and I wouldn’t treat even my worst enemy in that manner,” expressed Jake Porter, whose late daughter had a tumultuous relationship with the rapper for 13 years before their split in 2007, in an interview with Rolling Stone published on June 7. “It was truly reprehensible.”
Jake, who is also the grandfather of Kim and Diddy’s children Quincy, 32, Christian, 25, and twins Jessie and D’Lila, 17, shared that his perception of the Bad Boy Records founder has dramatically changed. (Kim passed away from pneumonia at the age of 47 in 2018.)
“I never imagined he could sink to such lows,” the 78-year-old stated. “I wouldn’t even treat an animal like that. My heart goes out to Cassie.”
E! News has reached out to Diddy’s representative for comment but has not received a response.
In a hotel surveillance video released by CNN in May, Diddy was captured chasing Cassie down a hotel corridor, forcefully grabbing her, pulling her to the floor, and striking her repeatedly. These visuals align with an alleged incident mentioned in a lawsuit filed by Cassie against the Grammy winner in November 2023, following their split in 2018 after a decade of an on-and-off relationship.
