Kiefer Sutherland’s Heartfelt Tribute to Father Donald Sutherland
Kiefer Sutherland is paying tribute to the illustrious career of his father Donald Sutherland.
The cherished actor, known for his roles in the Hunger Games series and M*A*S*H among others, passed away at the age of 88, as confirmed by Kiefer on June 20.
“I consider him one of the most significant actors in the history of cinema,” the 24 star wrote alongside a childhood photo shared on Instagram. “He never shied away from any role, be it good, bad, or ugly.”
“He loved his craft and pursued his passion, and that’s all one can hope for,” concluded Kiefer, whose mother Shirley Douglas passed away in 2020. “He lived a fulfilling life.”
According to Donald’s agency CAA, he passed away in Miami “following a prolonged illness.”
After sharing the news of his father’s death, Kiefer received condolences and well-wishes from fans and fellow celebrities, including actor Cary Elwes.
“Heartbroken,” commented the Princess Bride star. “Our thoughts are with you. Grateful for the opportunity to have known and worked with him. Sending our love.”
