Kevin Costner Justifies Casting Son Hayes in his Latest Film
Kevin Costner is pleased to offer his son a helping hand—just this once.
Truly, the Yellowstone star recently revealed why he chose to cast his 15-year-old son Hayes in his new film Horizon: An American Saga.
“He’s a lovely boy,” Kevin—who has children Cayden, 17, and Grace, 14 with former spouse Christine Baumgartner—shared on the June 17 episode of Today. “And he’s reserved.”
Furthermore, the Field of Dreams actor acknowledged that his decision to cast his son in the initial part of what will become a four-part series—a Western tale that has been in the works for over three decades for the Oscar winner—defies the principles he has set for himself.
“I have not pushed my children into the industry,” the 69-year-old added. “I understand there are many young actors who would love to be in this movie and I don’t want to deprive them of those opportunities just because I can cast my own children. But in this case, it was a minor role. I simply wanted him by my side during the two weeks he spent with me.”
