‘Hidden Secret Revealed’: Matt Shakman, Director of Fantastic 4, Admits Prior Knowledge of Robert Downey Jr’s Dr Doom Casting

In an interview with director Matt Shakman for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning as Doctor Doom, an iconic character in the franchise.

The character of Doctor Doom has close ties to the Fantastic Four and will also appear in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday.” Shakman spoke about the excitement of working with Downey and keeping it a secret until the reveal at San Diego Comic-Con.
Shakman mentioned that he had known about Downey’s involvement for a while but had to keep it under wraps. He expressed his excitement about working with Downey and the future of the characters.

Shakman previously worked with Marvel on “WandaVision” and is excited for Downey’s return in “Avengers: Doomsday,” directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.
After an emotional goodbye to his character in “Avengers: Endgame,” Downey is set to reprise his role alongside the Russo brothers in this new film.
