During the Eras Tour in Sydney, Katy Perry showed her support for Taylor Swift
Experience Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has been remarkable. These shows are not just about her music, but also provide a safe space for new relationships and rekindled friendships to flourish. It seems like the vibrant friendship bracelets may hold the power to reconcile Swift with her past foes. She recently used that energy to put an end to her long-standing feud with Katy Perry. Apologies to “Bad Blood.”
On February 22, Perry (along with Rita Ora and her husband Taika Waiti) attended Swift’s concert in Sydney, Australia. The next day, she praised the Midnights singer on Instagram. “Got to see an old friend shine tonight ♥️✨,” she captioned the post, which included seven images of her enjoying the show and its aftermath.
While Perry’s entire post is heartwarming, it was two particular slides that captured the hearts of Swifties. The post began with a long-awaited selfie of the two singers together. Then, on the fifth slide, Perry shared a playful video of Swift performing “Bad Blood.” As the song played, Perry widened her eyes in surprise before joining in on the chorus, which was thought to be a nod to their feud at the time.
A little backstory: In 2012, the stars had some drama involving backup dancers. Perry was on her California Dreams Tour when three of her dancers were offered spots on Swift’s Red tour, which kicked off in 2013. According to Rolling Stone, those dancers later left Swift’s tour to join Perry on her Prismatic Tour in 2014.
This led to a feud between the two pop stars: Swift drew the line with “Bad Blood” in 2014, and Perry responded with “Swish Swish” in 2017. After a series of exchanges, their feud took a positive turn in March 2020. Perry appeared in Swift’s “You Need To Calm Down” music video, and they even shared a hug in matching outfits.
Thankfully, their friendship has remained strong in recent years. Prior to their reunion in Sydney, Perry also showed support for Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce in October 2023. With these two now united, the “Bad Blood” drama can finally be put to rest.
