Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan’s business thrives, while Deepika Padukone’s brand suffers losses; read on for more information
Several Bollywood actors have successfully transitioned into business owners, opening brands that resonate with them. However, only a few have been able to make their companies profitable. Recent reports show that Katrina Kaif’s Kay Beauty and Hrithik Roshan’s HRX are seeing profits, while Deepika Padukone’s skincare brand 82°E is facing significant losses.
A report by Storyboard18 revealed that Katrina Kaif’s beauty brand, Kay Beauty, is performing well and making profits. The brand, launched in collaboration with Nykaa, has over 1.5 million customers and is among the top three brands in Nykaa stores. Falguni Nayar, CEO of Nykaa, stated that Kay Beauty is the third most searched brand on the platform and is expected to grow by 62%.
Hrithik Roshan’s fitness and clothing brand HRX has crossed the revenue mark of Rs 1000 crore, showing significant growth. However, Deepika Padukone’s 82°E skincare brand is facing a loss of Rs 25.1 crore at the EBITDA level. Virat Kohli’s brand WRONG and Anushka Sharma’s brand Nush have also seen a decline in revenue.
Alia Bhatt, a National Award-winning actress, launched her kidswear brand Ed-a-Mamma, which was later acquired by Reliance Retail. The revenue of Ed-a-Mamma increased to Rs 16.2 crore in FY22. Other celebrities who own brands include Kriti Sanon (Hyphen), Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor (Rheson), Shahid Kapoor (Skult), Mira Kapoor (Akind), and Priyanka Chopra (Anomaly Haircare).
