Despite the past tensions, Kathie Lee offered an olive branch to the shock jock when he visited Today in 2012. Despite efforts to keep them apart in the studio, she followed the prompting of the Lord to go say hello to him.
She approached his dressing room to wish him luck as the new judge of America’s Got Talent, surprising Howard enough that he called her later that day to leave an apologetic voicemail.
After finally connecting on the phone and shocking her family, the two ended their feud once and for all.
“Howard,” she told him, “I’m glad you’re seeking forgiveness, because it’s important to ask for forgiveness when we’ve hurt someone. But just so you know, I forgave you 30 years ago.”
