Editor’s Note Added to Kate Middleton’s Video Announcement About Cancer Diagnosis
Getty Images is adding more context to a recent video featuring Kate Middleton.
Following Kensington Palace’s release of a recorded video showing the Princess of Wales discussing her cancer diagnosis, Getty Images included an editor’s note with the footage.
The note stated, “This Handout clip was provided by a third-party organization and may not align with Getty Images’ editorial policy.”
When asked why the clip was flagged, Getty Images told E! that it is standard practice to add an editor’s note to handout content from third-party organizations.
The Palace had previously disclosed that the video of Kate sharing her cancer diagnosis was filmed by BBC Studios on March 20, two days before its release.
Kate revealed, “In January, I had major abdominal surgery in London, initially believed to be non-cancerous. After successful surgery, tests showed the presence of cancer. My medical team recommended preventative chemotherapy, which I am currently undergoing.”
