Kartik Aaryan discusses being compared to Akshay Kumar and reveals his wish to do a comedy movie with the superstar
Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhool Bhulaiyaa has gained a cult status among cinephiles over the years. Starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, the 2007 film is beloved for its iconic star cast, witty dialogues, intriguing storyline, and more. Kartik Aaryan, now leading the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, recently discussed comparisons with Akshay Kumar, expressing his feelings of strangeness and expressing his desire to work on a comedy film with the star.
During a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Kartik Aaryan was asked about being compared to the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa star Akshay Kumar. Kartik shared that he has always been a big fan of Akshay and continues to be. He feels that he cannot place himself on the same level as Khiladi Kumar.
“I have been watching him since my childhood. For me, it’s a different thing when people say it, I feel a bit strange about how to express this feeling,” he said.
Kartik mentioned that the comparisons started with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and people automatically began comparing him with Akshay. The Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety star acknowledged that the comparison is impossible.
Kartik also expressed his interest in collaborating with Akshay Kumar on a comedy film in the future, stating that it would be a fantastic project.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa, a psychological horror comedy, was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam-language film Manichitrathazhu. The film also featured Shiney Ahuja, Ameesha Patel, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Manoj Joshi, Rajpal Yadav, and others.
In the film, Akshay Kumar portrayed the role of Dr. Aditya Shrivastava, a psychiatrist. Vidya Balan played Avani Chaturvedi, diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder, who associates herself with Manjulika, a ghost of a dancer. Shiney portrayed her on-screen husband, Siddharth Chaturvedi.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the sequel to Bhool Bhulaiyaa, was released in 2022, starring Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, and Tabu. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the third installment, is set to hit screens on November 1, 2024, on the occasion of Diwali, clashing with Singham Again at the box office.
