Karthi reveals that while both Kaithi and Meiyazhagan were shot entirely at night, they differ in one significant way

Karthi is all set to grace the big screens on September 27, 2024, with his upcoming movie, Meiyazhagan. Directed by ‘96 fame Premkumar, the film had a promotional event where Karthi shared an amusing comparison between Meiyazhagan and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi.

In a video shared by Thi Cinemas, the actor jokingly said, “Kaithi was a unique experience as we filmed the entire movie at night, with Lokesh challenging me with fight scenes every day. However, Meiyazhagan also takes place in one night, but luckily there are no fights, so don’t expect that.”

“I remember director Bala sir once said that even a simple chat between two people can be made into a good film. Similarly, when two people who have been apart for a while reunite, there can be many enjoyable moments. I don’t know how this man (Premkumar) managed to write this film in just 6 days,” added the actor.

Karthi also expressed his gratitude towards Kamal Haasan, who lent his voice for two songs in the film. He also thanked his brother Suriya for picking up the movie and ensuring it reaches the right audience.

Meiyazhagan, starring Karthi and Arvind Swamy, narrates the story of two cousin brothers reuniting after years as one returns to his village for a wedding. The teaser of the film released earlier showcases a feel-good vibe.

In addition to the lead actors, the movie also features actors like Rajkiran, Sri Divya, and others in pivotal roles. The music for the film is composed by Govind Vasantha, who previously collaborated with Premkumar on ‘96.

On the professional front, Karthi is set to appear in the film Vaa Vaathiyaar, opposite Krithi Shetty, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy. He is also filming for the sequel Sardar 2.
