Kalki 2898 AD smashes box office records: Prabhas starrer earns 338 crore in India in just 4 days
Kalki 2898 AD made a huge impact at the Indian box office by earning nearly Rs. 100 crore yesterday. The film experienced a substantial 32 per cent increase in revenue on Sunday, reaching approximately Rs. 98 crore. This brings the total for the extended four-day weekend to Rs. 335.50 crore, making it the fifth-highest opening weekend ever in the Indian box office, trailing only Baahubali 2, RRR, KGF 2, and Jawan.
Led by Prabhas, the film had a slower growth on Saturday due to the T20 World Cup final match between India and South Africa. However, it surpassed expectations with a remarkable surge on Sunday. North India saw an exceptional growth of over 50 per cent, with the Hindi dubbed version earning approximately Rs. 46 crore on the fourth day.
In Telugu states, achieving a 10 per cent growth on Sunday is usually considered a best-case scenario for major films. However, Kalki saw an outstanding 25 per cent increase. It started with just a 5 per cent lead over Salaar on the first day but extended the lead to 11 per cent by Sunday, even though it was the fourth day for Kalki and the third for Salaar.
The box office collections of Kalki 2898 AD at the Indian box office are as follows:
Day | Gross |
---|---|
Thursday | Rs. 101.00 Cr. |
Friday | Rs. 63.50 Cr. |
Saturday | Rs. 73.00 Cr. |
Sunday | Rs. 98.00 Cr. |
Total | Rs. 335.50 Cr. |
The film delivered impressive performances in the first three days, but Sunday’s success has set it up for massive overall success. With highly positive trends, it has shown strong numbers in regions like North India, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, which could lead to a longer run compared to frontloaded regions like Telugu states. Its performance during the weekdays will determine its final box office numbers, but based on the weekend, Kalki could potentially aim for around Rs. 700 crore in India.
