In Beetlejuice 2, Justin Theroux plays Rory, the love interest of Winona Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz. Theroux recently spoke with Fox News Digital about his experience working on the movie.
Theroux shared his thoughts on why he believes artificial intelligence will not be able to match the creativity of visionaries like Tim Burton. He emphasized that Burton’s unique style and creativity in Beetlejuice 2 cannot be replicated by AI, stating, “He is so singular in his vision.”
While Theroux acknowledges the potential for AI-created films in the future, he believes that it is currently difficult to recreate what comes from Tim Burton’s imagination.
Theroux also discussed his character Rory, describing him as a “complicating element” in the Deetz family dynamic. He hinted at Rory’s sinister intentions towards Lydia, indicating his desperate desire to marry her for nefarious reasons.
Beetlejuice 2 follows the Deetz family as they return to their home in Winter River after a family tragedy. Lydia’s world is turned upside down when her daughter, Astrid, unintentionally releases Betelgeuse from the Afterlife.
Theroux expressed his excitement for the film, particularly working alongside Tim Burton and the talented cast. He praised Catherine O’Hara’s performance as one of the highlights of the sequel, calling her the best special effect in the film.
Beetlejuice 2 is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
