Interview with Justin Baldoni about “Complex Personalities” on the set of It Ends With Us

Justin Baldoni is opening up about the challenges of acting in and directing a film simultaneously.
It Ends With Us marked his first time taking on both roles in a project, and he admitted that it was a difficult task, especially when dealing with different perspectives on set.
“Every movie is a miracle,” Justin shared in an interview with Today.com published on Aug. 9. “And then, of course, you’re navigating complex personalities and trying to align everyone with the same vision. Mistakes are inevitable, but you learn how to overcome them.”
Despite the challenges, Justin approached directing the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel with a collaborative mindset. The film features Blake Lively, Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, and Isabela Ferrer.
“I believe in the ‘best idea wins’ approach,” he explained. “I’m always open to new visions, sometimes to a fault.”
There were times when Justin felt that people on set questioned his direction and vision because he was so willing to consider other perspectives.
