Julianne Hough Opens Up About Her Sexuality Following Statement that She is “Not Straight”
Julianne and Brooks got divorced in 2022 after nearly five years of marriage.
Reflecting on that period, the former DWTS dance pro, who later became a cohost on the show in 2023, shared with Jamie Kern Lima that her previous relationship with the hockey player was “the best thing that could have happened to me at that time.”
She elaborated, saying, “I needed to reconnect with my 10-year-old self. At 10, I needed safety and almost a father figure to provide stability. Our dynamic was about me seeking that feeling of being a little girl and him being the stable, grounding force. He created a strong foundation for me to be vulnerable.”
Despite their romantic separation, Julianne acknowledges a positive aspect of their marriage. “We are significant and special individuals in each other’s lives, and we experienced a transformative period together,” she expressed. “I brought valuable experiences to his life, and he did the same for me. It was a time of mutual respect, love, and personal growth for both of us.”
