DNA in JonBenét Ramsey’s cold case still awaits testing, says father
The infamous case, which captured national attention, continues to be the focus of numerous TV specials as people try to uncover the truth behind JonBenét’s tragic death.
In 2016, JonBenét’s brother, Burke Ramsey, spoke out about the case for the first time to Dr. Phil McGraw in response to CBS’ special, The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey, which suggested that he may have been responsible for his sister’s death when he was just 10 years old.
Following the CBS show, Burke took legal action against forensic expert Dr. Werner Spitz, suing him for $150 million for defamation. Burke accused Dr. Spitz of seeking publicity and making false and sensational statements about him.
In December 2016, Dr. Spitz filed a motion to have the lawsuit dismissed with prejudice, defending his right to express his opinions about the case under the First Amendment. His lawyers argued that his speech was protected as others had also speculated on the case.
