Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, receives U/A certificate with 9 minutes of scenes removed by CBFC
John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh are gearing up for the release of their upcoming film, Vedaa. The film recently received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) just before its release. The CBFC granted the U/A rating on August 6, after cutting over 9 minutes of content.
According to reports, the CBFC issued a U/A certificate to John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh’s film, Vedaa, on August 6 after editing out more than 9 minutes of content. The filmmakers were required to make changes to a 1-minute-16-second disclaimer by adding a voiceover. A dialogue considered derogatory towards women and social identity had to be altered, and offensive language was replaced.
A hanging scene that lasted 2 minutes and 16 seconds was deleted from the film. The mention of ‘Jodhpur’ in relation to the Jodhpur High Court was muted, and violent visuals within the court premises were decreased by 30% as requested by the CBFC.
In one scene, an audio track featuring Sanskrit shlokas was removed. The text “Brahmin son…Shudra’s son” was also removed, and scenes showing the tearing of currency notes were blurred by the censor board.
Prior to this, the producers of Vedaa had issued a statement addressing the delay in certification from the CBFC for their film’s Independence Day 2024 release. The CBFC revising committee ultimately viewed Vedaa and granted its certification.
Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, will also feature Abhishek Banerjee and Tamannaah Bhatia in significant roles. The film is set to release on August 15, 2024, competing with Stree 2 at the box office. Directed by Nikkhil Advani and produced by Zee Studios, Emmay Entertainment, and JA Entertainment, Vedaa marks a collaboration between Advani and Abraham.
