Joey Lawrence Speaks out about His Divorce from Samantha Cope and Addresses Affair Allegation
Joey Lawrence is finally addressing his separation from his estranged wife, Samantha Cope. After two years of marriage, Cope filed for divorce from the actor due to their differences.
Amidst the relationship tension, Lawrence met Melina Alves and formed a strong bond with his co-star while filming for Socked in for Christmas.
On his Instagram account, the actor shared a statement addressing the recent allegations surrounding his personal life, including his divorce and claims of an affair with Melina Alves.
He clarified, “Melina and I became close friends, and there was no physical relationship during the movie. These rumors are false.” He emphasized that his relationship with Alves was based on shared experiences and mutual personal struggles.
Meanwhile, Cope, after filing for divorce, expressed that she had hoped to save her marriage with the actor-singer. In an earlier interview, Lawrence’s ex-wife mentioned the difficulties in their marriage.

The Blossom actor is a father to three kids, sharing his first two daughters with his ex-wife. Lawrence acknowledged that his daughters would not accept Cope as their mother.
He explained, “The dissolution of my marriage stemmed from realizing that my two eldest daughters would never accept my wife as part of the family.”
The actor disclosed, “I will not compromise on the love and care my daughters deserve, which played a significant role in the breakdown of my relationship.”
Joey Lawrence and Samantha Cope married in 2022 after Lawrence’s divorce from Chandie Yawn Nelson the same year.
