Jimmy Kimmel’s Son Billy, Age 7, has Third Open Heart Surgery
Jimmy Kimmel is providing an update on his son Billy Kimmel.
During the Memorial Day weekend, the late-night host and his wife Molly McNearney saw their 7-year-old son undergo his third and hopefully final open heart surgery.
“We approached this experience with a mix of optimism and fear,” Jimmy shared on Instagram on May 27, accompanied by a photo of Billy in the hospital, “and we emerged with a new valve and a happy, healthy child.”
Expressing gratitude to the staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Jimmy, who is also a father to daughter Jane, 9, with Molly, and to kids Katie, 32, and Kevin, 30, with his ex-wife Gina Kimmel, shared further thoughts on the experience.
“Walking through this hospital,” he continued, “interacting with parents in their most vulnerable state, children in pain, and the incredible healthcare professionals doing everything they can to save them, is a humbling experience.”
“To those kind strangers who prayed for and sent positive vibes to our child, to our family and friends for their overwhelming support, to my wife Molly for her unyielding strength as a mother, and to you, Billy, for being the toughest (and funniest) 7-year-old we know, thank you,” Jimmy concluded.
