Ozempic was not a joking matter for the comedian. Handler shared that her “anti-aging doctor” prescribed her the medication without knowing what it was.
“I wasn’t even aware I was taking it,” she mentioned during the Jan. 25, 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy. “She said, ‘If you ever want to lose five pounds, this is a good option.'”
However, after trying the medication, Handler realized that she didn’t like how it made her feel.
“I returned from a trip and injected myself with it,” she remembered. “A few days later, I went to lunch with a friend who mentioned feeling nauseous because she was on Ozempic. I then realized I was feeling nauseous too, but I attributed it to jet lag from my trip to Spain.”
In the end, Handler decided to stop using the drug as it was not medically necessary for her. She gave the remaining doses to her friends.
“I’ve injected about four or five of my friends with Ozempic because I realized I didn’t need it and found it unnecessary,” she shared. “It is meant for overweight individuals. I had friends coming over to my house, and I was scheduling them at different times.”
