In a 2022 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Lopez revealed that their breakup in 2004, partly due to relentless media attention, was incredibly painful.
“When we called off the wedding 20 years ago, it was the most devastating experience of my life,” she shared. “I genuinely thought it was the end for me.”
Lopez reflected on how the breakup affected her for nearly two decades, saying, “It led me down a path of struggles for the next 18 years. However, now, after 20 years, it has a happy ending. It’s a conclusion that you wouldn’t expect in Hollywood.”
