Just a few months before rumors of a breakup began, Ben discussed his and Jennifer’s contrasting views on privacy.
“I initially had strong boundaries with the media while Jen didn’t mind it as much,” the Argo actor shared in Jennifer’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told released in February. “I was really against it.”
Ben revealed that the intense scrutiny they faced played a role in ending their engagement in the early 2000s. He expressed his desire to keep their personal life more private after they got back together in 2021.
“When we reconciled, I told her, ‘I don’t want our relationship on social media,'” he explained. “But then I realized it wasn’t fair to ask that. It’s like marrying a boat captain and saying, ‘I don’t like the water.’ We have different perspectives and are trying to find a middle ground.”
