It is widely known that veteran lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar has a younger brother named Salman Akhtar who is also an author and a psychoanalyst. However, the two brothers have some unresolved issues that have prevented them from communicating with each other. In a recent interview, Salman Akhtar opened up about their feud and discussed the possibility of reconciling.
Salman Akhtar spoke to The Lallantop about his book Ghar Ka Bhedi where he mentioned his brother Javed Akhtar despite their strained relationship. He explained that while he writes about Sigmund Freud, Donald Winnicott, and Faiz, whom he has never met, it is not contradictory to write about Javed without having met him. He believes that both things can coexist.
When asked if their relationship can improve, Salman expressed that if Javed Akhtar wants to reach out to him, he is open to it as he considers himself a decent person. Despite not speaking for years, the brothers maintain an intuitive connection, according to Salman.
Discussing the complexities of their feud, Salman explained that it involves nuanced emotions and history that cannot be easily discussed in public. However, he acknowledged Javed Akhtar as an erudite, intelligent, and talented poet.
Salman elaborated on their intuitive connection, stating that despite not meeting often, they have a deep understanding of each other. He emphasized that their bond goes beyond language and physical interaction, highlighting a strong intuitive connection between them.
Recently, director Namrata Rao released a docu-series called Angry Young Men, which explores the lives, successes, struggles, and breakup of screenwriting legends of the 1970s, including Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar.
