Javed Akhtar praises Amitabh Bachchan, crediting him with repaying their support with outstanding performances
Amitabh Bachchan is still remembered for his iconic ‘Angry Young Man’ image from his early days in Bollywood, thanks to the talented writer duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. The famous dialogue, “Yeh Police Station hai… tumhare baap ka ghar nahi”, from Zanjeer was a testament to their writing brilliance. It was in the classic film Zanjeer that Salim and Javed first collaborated with Amitabh Bachchan.
In a recent interview with Indian Express’ Expresso, Javed Akhtar mentioned that they recognized Amitabh Bachchan’s potential even before he became a star, and he proved them right with his outstanding performances. Akhtar praised Bachchan as an ‘exceptionally great actor’ and compared his success rate to that of the legendary Dilip Kumar.
Javed Akhtar also highlighted Bachchan’s dedication to his craft and work ethic, mentioning that he worked on 14 films with him and never had any complaints about his delivery of lines. The documentary Young Angry Men, showcasing the journey of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar as writers, is currently available on Amazon Prime Video.
