Mita Vashisht credits OTT for making Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma into big stars
Actress Mita Vashisht, who made her debut in the 1989 film Chandni alongside Sridevi and Rishi Kapoor, has played diverse roles throughout her career. Mita has also appeared in films such as Dil Se, Ghulam, and Taal.
In a recent interview, Mita Vashisht discussed how the rise of OTT platforms has provided opportunities for non-celebrities and television actors to showcase their talent.
Mita Vashisht discusses Jaideep Ahlawat’s rise to fame through Paatal Lok
During an interview with Lallantop, Mita Vashisht revealed that OTT platforms helped actor Jaideep Ahlawat become a household name after starring in the TV series Paatal Lok in 2020.
Mita explained how initially Bollywood actors were hesitant to explore OTT when it emerged in 2017, while non-celebrities seized the opportunity and found success.
“Within three years, actors like Jaideep Ahlawat emerged on national television and became a big star and household name through shows like Paatal Lok,” the actress stated.
Referring to Radhika Apte, Mita mentioned her rapid rise to fame through various OTT series such as Sacred Games, Ghoul, Ok Computer, and Made In Heaven- Season 2.
Actress praises Vijay Varma for his talent
In the same interview, Mita highlighted actor Vijay Varma’s success in Mirzapur, acknowledging his talent and stardom achieved through OTT platforms.
The actress expressed that following the success of OTT in India, established actors began gravitating towards the medium, although not all of their projects are successful.

Jaideep Ahlawat is best known for his role as Hathiram Chaudhary in Paatal Lok and has also appeared in series like Bard of Blood, Lust Stories, and Ajeeb Daastaans.
Vijay Varma’s notable OTT projects include Mirzapur 2 and 3, She, Darlings, Dahaad, Kaalkoot, and more. He recently starred in the Netflix film Murder Mubarak.
Both Jaideep and Vijay are set to appear in Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film Jaane Jaan, alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role.
