Game of Thrones’ Jon Snow Sequel Officially Canceled by HBO; All the Details You Need to Know
Despite Jon Snow knowing nothing, Kit Harrington confirms that the Game of Thrones sequel focused on his character is no longer being developed. Previously, there were talks about the sequel being in the works and then being put on hold. However, it has now been officially removed from HBO’s lineup due to a lack of a compelling storyline.
Kit Harington shared with Screen Rant while promoting his film Blood for Dust that the spin-off series is no longer being considered. He explained that he had not discussed it earlier because it was still in the early stages of development, and he did not want to create unnecessary hype before things were finalized.
After careful consideration and evaluating whether the story was worth pursuing, both the creators and Harrington decided to abandon the project. “Currently, it’s not in the works because we couldn’t find a story that excited all of us enough,” he stated.
Although he gave disappointing news to the fans, he did end on a slightly hopeful note. “There might be a possibility of revisiting it in the future, but for now, it’s off the table. It’s firmly on hold,” he added. This small glimmer of hope might keep Jon Snow enthusiasts holding on!
Other Game of Thrones prequel/sequel projects in HBO
With the vast world and complex storylines created by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones has provided a rich foundation for multiple spin-offs. Following the success of House Of The Dragon, which premiered to critical acclaim and high viewership, HBO has several prequels in the pipeline.
These include A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on Martin’s novellas, and Aegon’s Conquest, which delves into the early history of House Targaryen’s rule. Additionally, the character of Sea Snakes will be explored in The Sea Snake / Nine Voyages, focusing on the maritime adventures of these iconic figures.
Another confirmed spin-off is Ten Thousand Ships, centered around Princess Warrior Nymeria, a key figure in the history of House Martell and the founding of Dorne. Fans can look forward to more updates on these exciting projects!
