Costume Designer for Blake Lively in “It Ends With Us” Speaks Out on Criticism of Actress’ Outfits
Blake Lively’s outfits in It Ends With Us have faced criticism from the audience since the first trailer release of the film. As the movie’s release approaches, the costume designers for the actress have responded to the criticism.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Eric Daman mentioned that he was initially excited to hear people’s thoughts on his work in the film. However, after the teaser was released, viewers were disappointed with Lily Bloom’s character’s attire not meeting their expectations.
Daman addressed the audience’s criticism by stating that he was more focused on people discussing his ideas and creations rather than the negative feedback.
The fashion enthusiast explained that once viewers see the context of the clothing and how Blake portrays Lily in the scenes, they will be excited and thrilled.
Eric Daman, who previously worked with Lively on Gossip Girl, collaborated with her again after 10 years to design outfits for her character Lily and Jenny Slater, who will play Alyssa in the film.
Sharing his inspiration for Lively’s character, Daman revealed that they aimed to balance masculine and feminine elements and create a strong, self-empowered look for Lily.
The film It Ends With Us, based on a novel by Colleen Hoover, follows the story of Lily Bloom, Ryle, and Atlas in a romantic drama that will unfold on the big screen.
The synopsis describes Lily’s move to Boston to pursue her dream of starting a business, her connection with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid, and the challenges they face as their relationship deepens.
Blake Lively stars alongside Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar in the film, with Justin Baldoni serving as the director. It is set to release on August 9.
