Ishaan Khatter describes living in the ‘small apartment’ gifted by Shahid Kapoor as feeling confined; ‘I called it home for a decade’
Ishaan Khatter made his highly anticipated Hollywood debut with the series, The Perfect Couple. In a recent interview, Ishaan delved into his career progression and personal life. The actor shared, “When I was 16, we moved to a small apartment, which my brother (Shahid Kapoor) was able to buy for us, so my mom and I lived there for 10 years, it had started to feel like a cage”.
During a conversation with The Dirty Magazine, Ishaan talked about his frequent moves in and out of apartments. He mentioned that he has changed apartments 17 times so far and this was his first time living alone. Recalling his teenage years living with his mother, he said, “When I was 16, we moved to Cozy Apartments in Yari Road, which my brother was able to buy for us, so my mom and I lived there for 10 years. The lockdowns happened in that house and it was a small place, like apartments in Bombay are. It was my mom, me, two other senior people and two cats in there. It had started feeling like a cage to me.”
When asked about his experience of having the house to himself, Ishaan expressed that while he sometimes misses having company, he values the opportunity to stay at home for the first time in his life.
Meanwhile, Fans praised Ishaan’s performance as the groom’s best friend in The Perfect Couple. In an interview with HeyUGuys, Ishaan discussed the series’ storyline, highlighting that alongside its humor and entertainment, the show contained significant drama.
In the same interview, the Khaali Peeli actor also touched upon his personal life and relationships, revealing that he is no longer single. When asked about sharing details of his current relationship, he hinted at someone special in his life but chose to keep his private life discreet, refraining from disclosing her identity.
Reflecting on his previous relationships, he acknowledged being in a relationship with someone less established than himself and recognized how that dynamic impacted his partners. He also mentioned the challenges of dealing with media attention and paparazzi, leading him to be more protective of his personal life.
