What We Know About Marvel’s Potential Plans for a New Guardians Of The Galaxy Film After Secret Wars
After finishing his time at Marvel Studios and wrapping up his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, James Gunn may have moved on, but it seems like the adventurous group of space misfits is not done yet. Rumors are circulating that Marvel Studios has plans for a new Guardians of the Galaxy movie after Avengers: Secret Wars.
Even though Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was promoted as the final chapter, there may be more exciting escapades in the works. A post-credit scene hints at the return of Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord. Could this mean more intergalactic adventures? Only time will tell!
Is Guardians of the Galaxy 4 coming?
An insider known as Rejected Scooper has revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy 4 is currently being developed. The production company is looking to release another installment in the series post Secret Wars.
While familiar characters like Quasar (Phyla-Vell), Adam Warlock, Alpha Groot, Rocket, Kraglin, Cosmo, Star-Lord, Mantis, Blurp, Nebula, and Drax are expected to return, there are still mysteries surrounding the new lineup. It appears that these characters might reunite soon, despite going their separate ways at the end of the third film. Fans can anticipate the return of Nebula, Mantis, and Drax.
Drax becomes a father to the Star Children and chooses to stay in Knowhere, while Mantis embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Nebula also steps away from the Guardians to assist Drax in raising the Star Children. With Zoe Saldana’s departure from the MCU, it remains uncertain if she will reprise her role as Gamora. There is a possibility for Gamora to return as a new variant in the Multiverse Saga.
Who will direct Guardians of Galaxy 4?
Having departed Marvel Studios to explore other endeavors, including leading DC Studios and shaping the future of the DC Universe, Gunn has stated that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is his final contribution to the franchise.
While it is plausible for a new director to take the helm of the new Guardians movie, Gunn hasn’t ruled out this possibility. However, he emphasizes that the new director must bring their own vision to the project and avoid replicating his style.
“I believe it can be truly fantastic if the director brings their unique perspective and doesn’t try to mimic my style,” Gunn shared with Esquire Middle East in 2023. “There are numerous directors I would like to see take on this challenge. And I would be thrilled to witness it come to fruition.”
Additionally, on Threads, Gunn expressed his desire for Guardians of the Galaxy to continue and voiced his confidence in Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige’s ability to select the right director.
