Will Hoda Kotb Be Leaving The Today Show? Discover Her Desire to Prioritize Family Time
Hoda Kotb will be leaving her morning talk show to spend more time with her family. On Thursday, September 26, she made this announcement through a letter, expressing that while it was a tough decision, she believes it was the right one.
During the Thursday broadcast of the show, Kotb was emotional as she shared her desire to make the most of her time with her loved ones on the show. Surrounded by her co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Bush Hager, and Al Roker, Kotb tearfully mentioned, “It was time for me to turn the page at 60 and try something new.”
She continued, “As I write this, my heart is all over the map. I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.”
Supporting Kotb, her co-hosts shared heartfelt messages. Guthrie expressed her pride in Kotb’s decision and her excitement for Kotb’s new journey. She also admired her friend’s courage in leaving the show at the peak of her career.

Guthrie further expressed her love and admiration for Kotb, stating, “Hoda, we love you so much, and when you look around and see these tears, they’re love, as you are so loved. Honestly, I don’t think any of us can imagine this place without you. I am so proud of my friend.”
She added, “You have so much guts. You inspire me. I love you, and it’s not over. I’m going to be showing up to your house.”
Kotb shared that she had been contemplating this decision for months and her sixtieth birthday celebration was a turning point. She realized that her family needed more of her time, leading to her decision to step down from the show.
While she will be leaving the morning talk show, Kotb will remain a part of the NBC channel until early 2025.
