Following a brief visit in London, Dodi Fayed flew Princess Diana to Paris where they spent the weekend at the Ritz Hotel, owned by Dodi’s father.
Their time at the Ritz was kept private with the help of Ritz security, but on July 31, the couple embarked on a six-day Mediterranean cruise on Mohamed’s yacht, where pictures of them together on deck circulated widely in 1997.
Despite Dodi’s ex-girlfriend Kelly holding a press conference in Beverly Hills on Aug. 13 announcing a lawsuit for breach of contract, alleging that Dodi had asked her to put her modeling career on hold to be with him exclusively, the British tabloids were full of reports that Dodi was serious about Diana, and she reciprocated his feelings.
