Despite RuPaul being happily in love for years, the revelation of their open marriage may surprise some. This was not a specific decision they made. “The hoax is that monogamy is something that can actually happen,” RuPaul told Vanity Fair in 2019. “I wouldn’t want to restrict the person I love the most on this planet. I wouldn’t do that to someone I love, my very best friend.”
In essence, RuPaul explained, “if you come across something that you cannot resist and that will bring you happiness, then go for it.” He continued, “Because deep down, I am certain, like never before, that this man loves me more than anything else in this world.”
Their commitment to each other remains unwavering despite their open relationship. Before the release of his book in March, while speaking to the New Yorker, RuPaul received a FaceTime call from Georges who was in a hospital bed recovering from a minor medical procedure. “I love you,” RuPaul said, concluding the call.
