Emma Stone’s Romance with Dave McCary: Inside the Award-Winning Love Story
Although McCary’s account is still active, all posts have been removed. Stone does not have an Instagram account and doesn’t even own a computer, although she does have a smartphone with full capabilities.
“I’m not actively present on social media,” Stone told Fresh Air host Terry Gross on NPR in January. “I browse social media content… I see it, but I have no desire to have my own social media presence or account. It’s not my thing, it’s not something I want to do.”
Stone, who has openly discussed her struggles with anxiety and panic attacks, explained that the pressure to engage would be overwhelming, and the potential regrets wouldn’t be worth it.
“I believe it would trigger a downward spiral,” she expressed. “I think every time something happened anywhere in the world, I would feel the need to comment on it, and then I would worry about whether I said the right thing, if I was being too reactive, if I wasn’t thinking enough. I believe I would be exposed to too much targeted content… I simply don’t think it would be beneficial to my mental well-being.”
