Ingrid Andress Seeks Rehab Following Intoxicated Performance of Anthem
In May 2023, the former One Direction member celebrated reaching 100 days of sobriety.
“I feel amazing,” he expressed during that period. “I feel really, really good, and the support from the fans and everyone has been really, really good.”
His struggle with addiction began during the peak of 1D’s popularity. “The problem we faced in the band— and I don’t blame anyone for this… But it feels like, when we were together, the best way to keep us safe, due to our fame, was to just confine us in a room. And, naturally, what’s in the room? A minibar,” Liam shared. “So at one point, I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to have a solo party,’ and that mindset continued for many years.”
Throughout his journey, he has been open about his recovery. “It wasn’t until I saw myself afterwards that I realized, ‘Okay, I need to make a change,'” he reflected in June 2021 when he mentioned he had been sober for over a month at that time. “There were a few photos of me on a boat looking bloated, what I call pills-and-booze face… My face was so much more swollen than it is now. I just didn’t like myself, so I decided to make a change.”
