Eminem Unveils Hilarious Behind-the-Scenes of Houdini Music Video, Daring Stunts Teased Before Album Release
During the filming of his music video for Houdini, Eminem appeared to have a blast performing his own stunts.
At 51 years old, Eminem released a new music video from his highly anticipated 12th studio album on May 31st. The video had a nostalgic feel reminiscent of his 2002 hit Without Me. He shared behind-the-scenes footage of himself jumping, climbing, and doing all of the stunts, all while maintaining his signature humor.
Eminem does his own superhero stunts in Houdini music video
In an Instagram post, the rapper shared a blooper reel on June 10th, wearing the same superhero costume from the Houdini music video. The caption read, “I do my own stunts.” The footage captured him showcasing his deadpan humor and playfully warning viewers not to attempt the stunts themselves, unlike his alter ego Slim Shady.
Fans were entertained as Eminem face-planted and struggled to climb a wall in the footage. He performed super-heroic moves and humorously joked about his stunts, earning comparisons to Tom Cruise.
His upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), set to release this summer, will feature appearances from Pete Davidson, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Shane Gillis. The music video for Houdini pays tribute to his Slim Shady alter ego.
Eminem’s Houdini climbs the music charts as smoothly as he scales walls doing stunts
Eminem previously announced the end of Slim Shady through a fake obituary in Detroit Free Press, declaring that the character’s complex existence had come to an end.
Before releasing the Houdini video, Eminem teased his fans by claiming he would make his career disappear in a FaceTime call with magician David Blaine.
Upon its release, Houdini topped the charts, reaching number one on various music charts, marking Eminem’s first chart-topper since September 2020. The song also reached number one on US-based Hot R&B / Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.
During a surprise appearance at Live From Detroit: The Concert on June 6th, Eminem performed his new single alongside other artists like Big Sean and Diana Ross.
