Caught in a tight spot: Justin Timberlake admits guilt in DWI case, faces hefty fine
Justin Timberlake pleaded guilty to his DWI case in the drunk driving charges. On September 13, Timberlake appeared in court with his attorney, Edward Burke Jr., where the musician addressed the judge and expressed disappointment in breaking the rules. He has been reflecting on his actions since then and also expressed gratitude towards everyone involved in the case.
During his appearance at the Sag Harbour courthouse, the actor-singer admitted, “I did not meet the standard I set for myself.” He also mentioned understanding the impact his actions could have on his fans and resources, coming from a small town.
After his statements in court, Timberlake was questioned by the opposing party’s lawyer, Irace, about his intentions while driving. Timberlake acknowledged his lack of judgment and the seriousness of the situation.
Although the plea for jail time was dismissed, Timberlake will pay a fine of $500 and provide 25 months of social services. Irace appreciated Timberlake’s honesty and believes he will learn from the mistake.
Following the hearing, both Burke and Timberlake released a statement regarding the case, clarifying that Timberlake consumed one drink over two hours at the American Hotel and was cooperative and respectful during the encounter with law enforcement.
Previously, Timberlake’s license was cancelled after being charged with driving while intoxicated. His wife, Jessica Biel, has been supportive throughout the court case.
