Hunter Schafer Reveals Details of Breakup from Dominic Fike and Confessions of Cheating
During her recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Hunter Schafer, the lead actress of HBO’s Euphoria, opened up about the challenges she faced in her relationship with co-star Dominic Fike and their eventual breakup. She provided detailed insights into their relationship and how they mutually decided to part ways.
Schafer emphasized that the decision to break up was mutual and acknowledged the difficulty of ending a relationship when there is genuine love involved. Despite describing it as one of the “cleaner breakups” she had experienced, she admitted that it was an emotional situation due to the depth of their feelings for each other.
She mentioned that their breakup was not messy, contrary to what people might think, and explained that they both realized it was not working and that they needed to go their separate ways. Schafer also discussed Fike’s previous comments about battling co-dependency in an interview with Zane Lowe and how their personal issues affected their relationship.
This relationship with Fike was Schafer’s first experience dating a cisgender man and being in a strictly monogamous relationship. She revealed that infidelity played a significant role in their breakup, explaining how being cheated on by Fike changed her and made her question herself and the relationship.
Throughout the podcast, Schafer reflected on the impact of infidelity and how it led her to question her own worth, especially as a trans woman in a relationship with someone who had never dated a trans person before. She also shared that she discovered the infidelity by looking through Fike’s phone, a decision she felt was necessary to gain understanding.
Schafer and Fike first met during the filming of Euphoria’s second season, which premiered in January 2022. Their relationship became public when they walked the red carpet together at the 2022 Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty.
Since the breakup, Schafer has focused on her career and personal growth. She mentioned that she is currently single and enjoying this phase of her life while reflecting on past relationships with musicians. She expressed a desire to figure out her own life before potentially dating another musician in the future.
