Tori Spelling’s Thoughts on Her Last Conversation with Shannen Doherty
“30 years ago, I witnessed someone being shamed and ruined for giving their opinion,” Tori recounted. “As women, we admire those who are strong role models in our lives, and you were that for me. Seeing that was difficult.”
Shannen encouraged Tori to always speak her mind and not apologize. “Expressing your opinion is a right given to you by a higher power,” she asserted. “Someone may not like it, your producer may not like it, your mother may not like it, your soon-to-be ex-husband may not like it, but it’s your opinion and therefore it holds value.
She added, “By immediately saying ‘I’m sorry’ afterwards, you are essentially invalidating yourself, which is absurd.”
Shannen also commended Tori—who is a mother to five children with her estranged husband Dean McDermott—for her personal and professional achievements. “People can see how creative you are,” she praised. “You have remained in the public eye, continued to earn money, raised your children, and worked tirelessly while juggling five kids.”
She went on, “Someone like you is entitled to have an opinion, so just express it. Stop apologizing.”
