Honoring the Memory of Craig Melvin’s Late Brother, Lawrence Today
Following Lawrence, who was diagnosed with late-stage colorectal cancer at 39, passing away in 2020 after a long battle with the disease, his younger brother stayed true to their shared mission.
“Colorectal cancer is not a glamorous topic,” Craig noted. “So, we have also focused on breaking down barriers and promoting open discussions about it.”
Although the initial purpose of the event was to honor his brother, it has grown to become a significant gathering for a larger community.
“While it began as a tribute to him,” Craig told E!, “it has turned into a fantastic two-day event where we celebrate survivors, acknowledge caregivers, discuss groundbreaking research, and enjoy some golf and music.”
Regarding what attendees can look forward to at the event in Connecticut, the NBC News anchor hinted at “an amazing Sunday concert and some not-so-great golf the next morning.”
