On the same day, Kensington Palace received criticism from Agence France-Presse following a family photo incident.
“AFP’s trust in handout pictures from the Palace has been compromised,” said AFP global news director Phil Chetwynd in a statement to E! News. “We cannot consider them a reliable source for handout pictures at this time. Further explanations are needed.”
This did not mean that AFP would refuse the palace’s photos completely. Chetwynd clarified that they would undergo increased scrutiny and editing checks. He emphasized the importance of being skeptical in future interactions as part of standard journalistic practice.
However, Chetwynd expressed hope that AFP could rebuild trust with Kensington Palace over time.
