Henry Cavill quickly agreed to join Deadpool and Wolverine.
Henry Cavill has been known for his portrayal of Superman in the DC Universe, but it has been two years since his brief cameo in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, where he teased a potential return as Superman in future projects.
However, with the transition from DC Films to DC Studios and the casting of David Corenswet as the new Superman, Cavill has exited the role and left behind his Superman suit. Rumors have surfaced about Cavill possibly joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Some of these rumors were confirmed by Cavill’s appearance as Cavillrine in Deadpool & Wolverine, fulfilling a dream for many fans. In the movie, Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson meets Cavillrine, a variant of Wolverine played by Henry Cavill.
Director Shawn Levy mentioned in an interview that most cameo actors were cast through direct requests from Reynolds and himself, including Cavill. Reynolds coined the term ‘Cavillrine’ for him, playing with Cavill’s legacy as a DC hero now appearing as a Marvel hero.
Henry Cavill’s involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has excited fans, who have speculated about him potentially taking on the role of Captain Britain. Cavill has expressed interest in playing a modernized version of the character, noting his appreciation for being British.
While the role of Captain Britain remains speculative, fans can enjoy Cavill’s cameo as Cavillrine in Deadpool & Wolverine, currently in theaters.
