Alleged Attempt by Wife to Poison Husband
On that particular afternoon, he messaged two close friends, revealing that Kouri had left him a note and a sandwich from his favorite diner. After he took a few bites, he broke out in hives. He confided in one of his friends, claiming, “I believe my wife tried to poison me,” despite not having any food allergies, as mentioned in the documents.
The charging documents detail how, three months after his passing in June, Kouri mentioned the sandwich incident while texting a friend, expressing, “He mentioned the sandwich made his stomach ache, so he decided to rest! No hives, no need for an epi pen!”
Along with the attempted murder charge, Kouri is also accused of three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, two counts of mortgage fraud, two counts of insurance fraud, and three counts of forgery. The latest allegations suggest financial hardship at the time of Eric’s death, with claims of fraudulent insurance benefit applications following his passing.
Responding to the recent filing, Kouri’s attorney, Skye Lazaro, conveyed in a statement to NBC News, “The contents of the document do not impact Kouri’s defense strategy against the charges brought forth by the State. She maintains her innocence.”
