Dealing With Gestational Diabetes
Kelly shared her experience of being diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her third trimester in a September 2022 interview with People. She mentioned that it wasn’t something she had from the start of her pregnancy, which made her initially feel like she had done something wrong.
Her main pregnancy craving had been sugar, especially sweet drinks. Despite trying to balance it out with fresh-pressed juice, she found that it still contained more sugar than necessary.
After making intentional changes to her diet, Kelly faced a sugar-withdrawal headache for a period but eventually lost 10 pounds, no longer needed compression socks, and saw improvement in her skin.
Reflecting on her journey, Kelly expressed that the motivation of doing it for her baby helped her maintain a strict approach to her diet. She emphasized the positive impact these changes had brought about in her life.
