Police locate Riley Strain’s body two weeks after going missing
The family of Riley Strain is facing an overwhelming loss.
After two weeks of searching, the body of the University of Missouri student was discovered on March 22 in the Cumberland River, eight miles away from where he went missing during a fraternity trip to Nashville.
“The medical examiner’s office has positively identified the body as Riley Strain,” stated an officer from the Nashville Police Department during a press conference on March 22. “The family has been informed, and at this time, there is no evidence of foul play.”
Authorities mentioned that Riley was still wearing the same shirt and watch he had on the night he disappeared on March 8 when his body was recovered.
“A worker from a company near the Cumberland River on 61st avenue called us around 7:28 a.m. They had been searching the river for any signs of Riley Strain,” the officer explained. “While removing an object from the water, they noticed what appeared to be Riley Strain surfacing.”
