Preserving Her Hair: Kelly Hyland’s Journey Through Cancer Treatment
Kelly Hyland is facing a tough situation with grace and resilience.
The former Dance Moms star recently revealed her battle with breast cancer and is now undergoing a specialized scalp treatment to minimize hair loss during chemotherapy.
In an interview with E! News, Kelly, who is a mother to daughters Brooke Hyland, 26, and Paige Hyland, 23, as well as son Josh Hyland, 25, shared that she is using the advanced scalp system called Amma. This system works by cooling the scalp to a low temperature, which causes the blood vessels to contract and reduce blood flow to the hair follicles.
The 53-year-old explained, “This process helps in limiting the exposure of chemo drugs to the hair follicles.”
Alongside her daughters, Kelly is also collaborating with Pittsburgh’s Serenity Wig Salon to create a custom wig that includes some baby hairs for a more natural appearance.
Reflecting on the experience of making the wig, Kelly expressed, “Having the salon and my daughters by my side made me feel more at ease and confident as the idea of losing my hair has been difficult for me.”
